Ford Motor Co. said Friday it has more than 10 million pre-orders for the 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck, a significant increase over the 10 million cars it sold in 2019.
Ford said the new truck is designed for the American market, and that it will cost about $36,000 to buy.
Ford also said it is introducing the F-X to U.S. customers.
Ford is targeting the pickup truck’s U.K. market with a launch planned for late 2018.
Ford has already launched the F150 and F-Truck, which will compete with Chevrolet’s Chevrolet Bolt EV and Tesla Model 3, as well as a Ford Focus EV, the Ford F100, the F250, the Lincoln MKZ and the Lincoln Town Car.
Ford and Ford Motor have been on an aggressive expansion drive in the U.A.E., where they are ramping up production.
Ford last year opened its new factory in the southern Portuguese city of Gstaad, which has a population of about 9 million.
The new factory will make about 1.5 million vehicles per year.
